Käsespätzle

Ingredients

  • 180 g flour
  • ½ grated nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 eggs
  • 90 ml milk
  • 3 tablespoons of butter
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1.5 cups grated Emmantel cheese

Instructions

  1. Combine the flour, nutmeg, salt, and pepper. Whisk the eggs in a medium bowl. Mix the milk and flour in a separate bowl.
  2. Combine these mixtures in a bowl and get a smooth consistency. Let the dough rest for about 20 minutes.
  3. Boil salted water in a pot. Grate the dough or pass it through a colander and drop it into the water. The cooked ones will float on the water.
  4. Put the cooked ones in a separate bowl. Mix with 1 cup of cheese.
  5. Melt the butter in a pan and cook the onions until they turn color. Add the cooked dough, i.e., spaetzle, and mix.
  6. Serve by pouring the remaining cheese on it. Enjoy your meal.
