  • 2 teaspoons of baking powder
  • 40 g granulated sugar
  • 60 ml of water
  • 250 g boiled red beans
  • Oil for frying
Manju

Instructions

  1. Firstly, add water and sugar to a deep bowl and mix until the sugar dissolves.
  2. Mix the flour and baking powder in another bowl.
  3. Sift the flour into the sugar-water mixture and gently mix with the help of a spatula.
  4. Mix the dough into the mixture without stirring too much.
  5. Cover with cling film and refrigerate for 20 minutes.
  6. Puree the boiled red beans in a blender.
  7. Divide the dough into two portions and stretch again to prevent the second dough from drying out.
  8. Pour plenty of flour on your hands to prevent the dough from sticking, stretch the dough into a long oval, and divide it into five equal parts.
  9. Take a piece of dough and flatten it by pressing it with the palm of your hand. Flour your hands, since the dough will be very sticky.
  10. Add the red bean paste in the middle of the dough and press the dough into a round shape toward the center.
  11. The thickness of the dough should be thinner on the bottom and thicker on the top.
  12. Since you are going to steam the manju dough, spread the baking paper on a 6-hole muffin tray and place the dough on it.
  13. Boil water in a pot, place the tray over the boiling water, and close the lid.
  14. Steam your manju dough for 10 minutes.
  15. Fry the steamed and moistened dough in the heated deep fat by turning them upside down.
  16. Take out the crispy and well-fried manju with a strainer and drain the oil. Manju is ready to serve. Bon appetite!
