Königsberger Klopse

Ingredients

  • 2 slices of old bread
  • 1 tablespoon of butter
  • 1 onion
  • 500 g of minced meat
  • 2 egg yolks
  • Salt
  • Black Pepper
  • 1 liter of water (can be vegetable or meat broth)
  • 4 whole black peppers
  • Bay leaf

For the sauce:

  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • 2 tablespoons of flour
  • 20 capers
  • 4 tablespoons of sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon sugar

Instructions

  1. Soak the old bread in water and then squeeze it well to break it into small pieces.
  2. Melt the butter in a pan, add the chopped onions, and cook until they turn color.
  3. Put the cooked onion, bread, and minced meat in a mixing bowl and mix. Add egg yolk, salt, and black pepper, and form meatballs.
  4. Boil the water, black peppercorns, bay leaf, and chopped onion in a pot. Add the meatballs and cook.
  5. For the sauce, melt the butter in a pan, add flour, and roast until it starts to smell.
  6. Slowly add the water in which you cooked the meatballs into the pan and whisk. You should add about 2 cups of broth in total.
  7. Add all the remaining ingredients.
  8. Combine the meatballs with the sauce, and serve. Enjoy your meal.
