Khachapuri (Georgian Cheese Bread)

Ingredients

  • 750 gr. flour
  • 3 eggs
  • Enough water
  • 150 g butter
  • 3/2 small packets of fresh yeast
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda

For the filling:

  • 300 g of low-salted Circassian cheese

To cook:

  • 2 tablespoons of butter

Instructions

  1. Knead all the ingredients except the cheese and leave it for 1 hour to ferment. Flour your hands, as the dough will be soft. Roll out small, orange-sized pieces of dough.
  2. Place the coarsely chopped cheeses on top of the rolled-out dough and press firmly with your hands to make them stick to the dough.
  3. Bake them on a greased skillet or a sheet pan by flipping them over. Spread butter on it when serving.
  4. Khachapuri can be made in two types, open and closed, and can also be cooked in the oven.
