Hawawshi, a traditional Egyptian dish, is prepared by filling pita bread with a minced meat mixture. The flat cornbread is filled with a minced meat mixture and then baked in the oven. It is enriched with different spices and condiments. This dish, known as muhajib in Algeria, is served both on home and restaurant menus in Egypt. Some varieties use chilies and sweet corn.   1. Firstly, to activate the yeast, put yeast, sugar, and warm water in a deep bowl and mix. After waiting for 5 minutes, add the milk.
  2. Mix olive oil, salt, and yogurt in a separate bowl. Put the flour into the kneading bowl and open the middle as a pit.
  3. Add the yogurt mixture to the pit and mix it. Then add the yeast mixture and start kneading the dough.
  4. After kneading the dough into a soft consistency, cover it and leave it to rest for an hour.
  5. Put the dough on the counter and divide it into 7 pieces. Roll it out with the help of a rolling pin so that it is the size of a plate. Place the rolled-out dough on the baking tray and wait for 10 minutes.
  6. Then sprinkle lightly with water and bake in a 200-degree oven for 10 minutes.
  7. After putting the dough in the oven, knead the minced meat, onion, breadcrumbs, and spices in a bowl to prepare the filling.
  8. Mix the tomato paste, olive oil, and water in a saucepan. Put a different pan on the stove and heat it.
  9. Put the minced meat mixture into the heated pan and cook while stirring. When the color of the minced meat starts to turn, you can add grated tomato and pepper.
  10. Cut the cooked bread in half, but be careful not to cut it completely.
  11. Spread the tomato paste mixture on the inside of the bread. Then fill it with the minced meat mixture.
  12. Bake the minced meat bread in the oven for another 5–10 minutes until the top is browned. Then you can take it out of the oven and serve it. Enjoy your meal.
