  1. Put the warm milk in a bowl. Mix the sugar and the yeast that you crumble with your hands.
  2. Mix yogurt and baking soda in another bowl.
  3. Put the flour into a deep bowl, add salt, and mix. Form a pool in the center of the flour.
  4. Add the egg, sunflower oil, yogurt mixture, and milk yeast mixture, respectively, and mix until you get a dough consistency.
  5. Wrap the dough with cling film and leave it at room temperature for 40 minutes.
  6. After the dough has risen, add oil to the pan and heat it. Apply oil to your hands and grab pieces of the dough.
  7. Shape the dough with your hands and fry it in deep oil, back to front.
  8. After doing the same with all the dough, you can serve the mekitsi. Enjoy your meal.
  Expert Tips
  • You can also use 1.5 teaspoons of dry yeast instead of fresh yeast.
  • Wait at least 30 minutes for the dough to ferment.
  • Oil your hands so that you can shape the dough. Otherwise, the dough will be difficult to shape.
